Monday 15. of December 2008 - NeSSi² 2.0.0-beta.1

The NeSSi2 team is proud to announce the first public release of NeSSi2.  Details on how to obtain NeSSi2 can be found on our Download page. 

For a first impression look at the available screenshots and videos.

 The main features of the 2.0.0-beta.1 release are:

  • Editor for creating network topologies.
  • Editor for creating simulation scenarios.
  • Agents for executing simulation scenarios.
  • Storage and retrieval of networks and simulation scenarios in a database.
  • Visual replay of simulations.
  • Charts for displaying simulation events.
  • API for creating and recording of simulation events.
  • API for creating devices, protocols, attacks and countermeasures.

The release of 2.0.0-beta.2 is targeted for the end of January and focuses on incorporating feedback from the use of NeSSi2 in the project class "Absicherung von Diensten". Besides usability improvements for the user interface, this release will also include an easier to use plug-in API.

Monday 20. of October 2008 - Pre-Release of NeSSi² for teaching

A pre-release version of the upcoming NeSSi² open source release has been published. This release is only available to students that registered to the class "Absicherung von Dienste".

This semester the class introduces XML application firewalls. Students are tasked to develop NeSSi² plug-ins for XML application firewalls, regular web service clients and attackers on the offered web services.

This project also uses NeSSi² to evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented XML application firewalls against various attacks.
